Homecoming week is next week. I can't wait to attend all the affairs that are going on. To me this is special, it may not be my first Homecoming but it's my first time actually going to the college and attending it. Hopefully our football team wins. We won our first game of the season and it was at home. Go Eagles. The Pre-Dawn Jam is this Saturday. I can't wait, they have extended the hours also, instead of it being from 11 to 5 it's from 10 to 6. You know a lot of people are going to be sleepy.

Our Fall Break was so short it was just like Labor Day weekend. I wish it could have been longer. Hopefully next year it is. At least I had the chance to go home and visit my family. It felt so weird being at home, almost as if I didn't belong there. But my grandmother always makes me feel welcomed. She also made me a lovely pound cake. I told everyone I knew in my residence hall that I was not sharing with them. Kinda mean but oh well they will get over it. Check it out!!!

Even though we lost the game on Saturday my school pride still runs high. All the fans had good sportsmanship, cheered for their team, and had fun. We had a safe ride up there. I was super shocked when we got there and were still able to purchase tickets.

College life sends you for a run and you find out who you really are. I'm happy people are finally starting to mature. It's a real shocker. My friend Leotrice has this saying "we party hard but study even harder."

We can't wait until Pre-Dawn rolls back around. They have finally extended the hours. Now it's from 10pm to 6am. Now that's a real party. We also have Homecoming. I can't wait to see Tye Tribbett. He is one of my favorite gosepl artist. I know the comedy show is going to be on point.

I love my school. North Carolina Central University is number one

HBCU in the nation. :)

We have election day today. Wow! It's so exciting. I have been going around making sure that everyone votes as if it was a white house election. To me it's that serious though because they are going to represent our whole freshman class. We need some good leaders.

This weekend is the AGGIE EAGLE CLASSIC. I'm going to make sure I'm there early. I can't wait until Saturday. School pride is a must when it comes to this big game. First away game that I am going to be attending. Nothing else is coming up that I know of.

Family weekend was oodles of fun. Even though my family did not come up here I have friends that are like a family to me. There were a lot of activities available so you would never get bored. Hill Harper did come and the auditorium was packed. People were lined up outside just to get in. He had a powerful subject matter that he spoke on. Yes, he is good looking so either way I was going to pay attention. But I actually learned something and he answered a couple of people's questions.

The football game was the highlight... it was the first home game on the new field. Even though we lost the game, we never lost our school spirit. The band did a nice segment, but they also put it down no matter what. Can't wait until the next one.

We also had an talent show. It was real nice, and a lot of people were there. Some people from the audience had an opportunity to get up and sing.

YAY!!! Midterm grades went out, and I had no bad grades. Yeah I know it sounds kiddy, but I'm happy. I thought I was doing really bad.

So excited... Hill Harper is coming Sunday!!!! I have to make sure that I get there early. I have a lot of interesting questions that I want to ask him. Since it's in the auditorium I don't know what the set up is going to be like or if we are even going to be able to talk to him. I'm hurrying through his book that I'm reading, "Letter to a YOUNG BROTHER MANifest Your Destiny." Not only is this for males, females can get something out of it too.

On another note bowling at the Student Union is lots of fun. You get to meet new people all the time. My friends and I try and go twice a week (though they just recently opened up). NCCU allows you to do so many new things. The game room is pretty fun also. In both the game room and the bowling alley they have music going, so you could turn it into a party if you wanted to.

Texting in class really gets you no where. Did you know I missed a whole lecture because some idiot thought their conversation was more important than my professor? Some more advice DO NOT DO IT!!!! It's really not worth the time you missed listening to the professor.

My word of the week is hectic. Hectic means being hot and flushed. Ha, I can relate because when I first got here that's how the weather was. My friend Shakira and I felt like we was about to pass out on those "Jesus Stairs". Those stairs really are no joke.

Wow!!! Labor Day weekend was wonderful. I got to take the time to go and visit my family and friends. It felt so different because they were much nicer and way to happy too see me. I felt special because "I got whatever I liked". I think this happened mainly it's because I'm the first person in my family to attend college, so my grandparents are so proud of me. They even brought me a new camera (thank you Jesus). Takes nice pictures huh???...

I finally pulled my first "all nighter." Don't think I will be doing that again, especially not when I have an 9:25 class. Word of advice: when you have homework that's due in advance, start on it that day when its assigned. This morning I was whipped, plus I had promised my friends I would meet them for breakfast. I could have canceled, but I'm not that type of person.

Oh yeah!!!! How could I forget about my life at "Vintage Baynes". I moved in yesterday thinking it to be just this terrible place. When I got there I thought to myself this isn't so bad. I finally have the opportunity to have an actual roommate. We are getting along just great. She helped me study and showed me where the laundry rooms are located. We set some rules about the room and just had fun. She gave me a new word of the week "probabilistic," which means, "Statistics; of or pertaining to probability." Learning new things everyday. Until next time I'm out!!

Our freshman class is so big they don't have enough room for everyone. I'm living in New Residence Hall 2 but come Labor Day Monday I will be moving into "Vintage Baynes". Personally I don't think it's fair that I have to move but then again I am staying in the lounge area in my suite. Things happen for a reason. Maybe it was meant for me to be in Baynes? I'm sure going to miss my R.A. because she is the best.

On the 20th of September I am getting the chance to meet Hill Harper. He is a famous author who has been on plenty of television shows. NCCU is having him come in and speak. I would recommend that everyone read his book "Letters To a Young Brother" or "Letters To a Young Sister". Regardless of your gender you can get into either one....they are just that good.

Now that I have gotten over the first two weeks, my homework is really coming in. They were right when they said "reading is the key to success". I see what they mean... either I have to read every night or I have to answer some critical thinking questions. I'm trying my hardest to build a 3.5 GPA early. But anyone can do it if you just work hard. We will see how the rest of my year goes.:)
